Who I am
My name is Andreas Ratzke. I am a graduate civil engineer, IT consultant and founder of RATEC Consulting UG (haftungsbeschränkt). For over 26 years, I have been working at the interface between the construction industry and information technology – a combination that is rarely found in this depth.
What drives me? Complex large-scale projects need not only good engineers, but also someone who understands, thinks along and advances the digital infrastructure. That is exactly my calling.
My career
The basics: From road builder to civil engineer
My professional career began in a very practical way – with an apprenticeship as a road builder at Gottlob Brodbeck GmbH & Co.KG in Metzingen (1991–1994). This foundation of craftsmanship has had a lasting impact on me: I know what it looks like on the construction site, how projects really work and where the challenges lie in day-to-day business.
I then studied civil engineering at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences with a focus on construction operations and graduated as a civil engineer (1995–2000).
21 years of Ed. Züblin AG – From trainee to IT expert
In 2000, I started at Ed. Züblin AG in Stuttgart – one of the largest construction companies in Europe. What began as a trainee program in quotation calculation and controlling developed into a versatile career over more than two decades:
- Project manager Zuckerbergstollen II in Stuttgart
- Controller for major projects such as the Schottenberg Tunnel and the B29 Tunnel Schwäbisch Gmünd
- IT coordinator for over 20 major national and international projects
- Software developer – co-development of specialist applications (e.g. Masch-DB, Germapro, just:file)
As an IT coordinator, I was responsible for the digital infrastructure on construction sites in more than 10 countries on four continents – from Germany to Turkey, the Netherlands, Canada and Israel to Chile, Singapore and Sweden. Projects such as the Rastatt Tunnel, the 2nd S-Bahn main line in Munich, the Alto Maipo hydroelectric power plant (Chile) or the DTSS2 tunnel (Singapore) are among my references.
From 2018, I was awarded the title of Expert – a recognition of my special expertise within the Group.
Tunnelkom GmbH – Tunnel safety as a speciality (2021–2026)
From 2021 to 2026, I worked as a project manager at Tunnelkom GmbH in Goeppingen. Here, my focus was on the planning and implementation of tunnel communication and safety systems for the construction state. In addition, I was responsible for software development as well as IT consulting and support for our customers.
RATEC consulting UG (haftungsbeschränkt) – My own company
In June 2026, I founded RATEC consulting UG (haftungsbeschränkt). In this way, I bring all my experience as an independent consultant to bear – specifically for companies and large-scale projects that are facing the challenge of digital transformation.

Family
Apart from the projects, my family is particularly close to my heart – my wife Ling Rong and our daughter Emilia.
Social commitment – volunteering with passion
For more than 15 years, I have been a trainer in the inline speed skating department of the TSuGV Grossbettlingen, where I look after and promote the club’s young talents week after week. The joy of accompanying young talents in their sporting development still drives me today.
In addition, I have been working as a state coach in Baden-Württemberg for over three years. In this role, I accompany the country’s most promising talents on their way to the top of Germany and Europe – close to the athlete, close to the performance.
As Chairman of the Inline Speedskating Sports Commission at the Wuerttemberg Roller Sport and Inline Association (WRIV), I am also actively involved in shaping the future of inline sports in Württemberg and am committed to the further development of the sport at association level.
